EPISODE 50

Why Resolutions Don’t Work!

Are you wondering why the resolution you set at the start of the year, didn’t work? Are you overwhelmed with trying to be enough? Well today’s episode is just for you my love!

Every year people want to start the new year off “right” and strong with things they’re going to do. But guess what, 91% of those people fall off the wagon and don’t continue the resolution(s) they’ve set. I’m guilty of it! I used to set all of these resolutions I’d want for the next year and guess what? They only last a hot freakin minute.

So why does this happen? It's not because you're weak-willed. It's not because you're lazy. It's not because you didn't try hard enough. It's not because you're not deserving of that change. It’s because the framework of the resolution doesn’t work for us mind body, spirit.

It’s from the place of radical acceptance, deep self-compassion and enoughness that we grow and expand in an authentic and purposeful and sustainable way.

I am here to remind you, YOU ARE ENOUGH. PERIOD.

It’s okay for you to want to feel better, to want more, but it’s got come from a place of ‘I already am, I already have’. It’s really hard to get to where you want to go from a place of feeling like crap. So the energy of a resolution, like I need to resolve this thing in me. No, you don't. You don't have to grow, you don't have to heal, you don't have to become. You can choose to, but do you absolutely need it? No, you don't need to. You are amazing as you are right here, right now.

Another issue with resolutions is the action is way too extreme my love. As someone who in her thirties told herself she’d workout 5x a week before work, make healthy meals at home, meal prep on Sunday - you know all the things. Well 10 years later, and much wiser in my 40s, I’m so NOT gonna do that. It’s way too much.

When we tell ourselves we’re going to do this, the brain automatically goes ‘well can I, is it worth the effort? Like am I going to get the result”. It is rapid firing all of these questions because that’s how it’s conditioned to be. But guess what - your brain isn’t stupid. Your brain goes, that’s funny, that’s not going to freakin’ happen.

Have you ever had so much happening at once that you literally freeze and can’t take a step toward to do anything? There’s a good reason for that because you’ve given yourself too much all at once and that mechanism in your brain goes NOPE. And then your nervous system says NOPE. So then we have to take a step back and simplify things and it’s when we do that that we can make progress.

So instead of resolutions, I encourage you to cast a vision for this year. Set an intention of who you want to be, how you want to feel, what your vision is and align energetically to that each and every day and then take little baby step actions that help you get there.

Now, we’ll have things that pull us out of alignment and that’s okay. What we want is to have the awareness that it’s happening. That’s why I talk so much about having a charging station, it’s intentional time to build that muscle of getting back in alignment.

These small baby steps of intentionality create marginal gains, massive shifts in your life.

As you’re casting your vision, I want you to be careful with. Ask yourself, is that vision that I was talking about for you casting into the universe what you want in your life? Let's make sure that that's coming from a really clean and clear authentic place, not a place of ego, not a place of I need to prove something to someone. Truly ask yourself what is your HEART longing for? That’s where your vision comes from.

So my love, I’ll leave you with this. Resolutions are OUT. International are IN. We're not doing more, we're not perfecting ourselves, we're not punishing ourselves.

I'm so excited to be in this energetic this year and share with you guys what this does for me, what this opens up, but also where I stumble and fall. Cause I will baby, you know she keeps it messy, that’s just part of who I am.

Sending you so much love mama. I am grateful you are here.

Take care of yourselves and therefore each other!
