EPISODE 33

Turning Your Mess into MF Magic with Christine Banno

This week I’m bringing you a new found friend and soul sister that I was immediately drawn to. She’s the host of the Holy Fuck Moments podcast, a personal transformation coach, and an overall firecracker queen — introducing Christine Banno!

As a coach, podcast host, business owner, retreat leader, psychic medium, and mama, Christine is an inspirational woman always sparking the fire of a new venture. She prides herself equally on what she creates as what she has survived – loss, codependency, chronic stress, shitty belief systems, adrenal fatigue, trauma, bullying and barely getting by – living completely in the fog with no purpose and little hope. It has been these collective experiences that have helped her look within and find herself, her soul, and her mission in this lifetime.

Christine shares the beauty that can be found in pivoting, how to meet your purpose within the sludge, and where you can find magic in your MF mess to create a life that you're proud of. To kickstart our convo I first wanted Christine to share a little bit about how she got to where she is today.

Christine noted that grew up with very little sense of self. Having gotten engaged when she was just 19, she envisioned herself staying at home and being a mom, but at this time she had no real idea of who she was. After enduring relationship trauma and pivoting out of her engagement, Christine found herself bouncing from school for massage therapy to partying in Vegas to focusing on the makeup industry to serving in restaurants to an interest in TV and film to landing an unfulfilling job. She realized that her habits were her attempt at seeking validation.

“I felt really lost. I just felt so small. I would ask myself, what am I doing with my life? Why am I in my late 20’s and I can't figure out what the hell I'm doing?”

It was at this point that Christine decided to reflect on her life in a new way. She acknowledged that she had been judging herself based on society’s standards, and that she was disconnected from her own intuition. After living in fight-or-flight throughout her life, she realized that she had always just wanted to belong and be normal, and living life in this unfulfilling way was leading her to physical illness.

“My body started getting really angry. It was like my soul was telling me ‘you are not meant for this. You are not designed for this. You are not built for this.’”

She noted that her life felt like it was all over the place, and that it was finally a conversation with her mother that set change in motion for her.

“She told me to imagine this moment as a snapshot. If you're taking a picture, this is just a representation of your life right now, and it can change. It can be different tomorrow.”

Christine quit her miserable job, filled her schedule with what lit her up full-time, and took control of her health again. She discovered her purpose by embracing what she had gone through and using it in a new and different way. She stopped living her life in the way that she thought she should, and she created a life that she was excited for.

“I think purpose finds us. I think it's a belief that we already have as a blueprint inside of us. Our purpose and our mission that we're here for is encoded. It's not something we have to go find – it's already in the deconditioning and the un-layering. We find our purpose when we start working through some of that pain and start questioning, who am I and what do I fucking care about?”

After everything that Christine has been through, she shares that she is now in a chapter of her life where she wants to help people with purpose. She wants to help people rediscover who they are and do so in a real way. She challenges us to think about how we can turn what we’ve been through into something different.

How can we transform our mess and our pain into helping others? How can we be of service, regardless of what we’ve done or what we’ve gone through? It's about turning that mess into magic.
