EPISODE 24

You Are Just ONE Decision Away From a Completely Different Life

Today I’m excited to share a little life lesson with you.

The reason that I wanted to share this on the podcast is that so many of you have shared that you’re feeling stuck, stagnant, or unsure of which way to go in your life. You may even be feeling that where you are now is not where you thought you would be.

My message today not only holds the intention of normalizing these moments, but also helping you get unstuck, and that message is this:

you are only ONE decision away from a completely different life.

Whether that one decision is to quit drinking, start running, begin healing in therapy, start dating again, leave the relationship, learn the new skill, get the job, start the business, write the book, start hiking, start meditating – you are one decision away from a completely different life. That one shift that you can make today can open doors for you and put you on a new trajectory

In my own life I have experienced many of these moments. The first was having a baby my senior year of college and saying yes to being a mother. This completely changed my trajectory – I went from partying hard without a real goal to getting sober, moving home, and getting my shit together with my career. Getting pregnant inspired me to go to the career fair, which was something that you would not have seen me attending previously. This led me to connecting with Target leaders, saying yes to an internship, and eventually saying yes to a 10-year career with Target as a corporate leader. That career provided for me and my son and set me up for the success I have now.

I stretched, grew, and wouldn’t have experienced pivotal moments of my life had this not been my trajectory. I wouldn’t have experienced the community trauma at my Target store in Aurora, Colorado had I not been open to the challenge and said yes. And this was especially significant for me, because it was that community trauma that kick-started my own trauma healing, which then connected me to my higher purpose and calling.

I believe that all of it happened for a reason. Things happen in our lives for a reason.

All of those experiences got me to where I am today. Starting my own healing led me to starting a meditation practice which then opened so many doors for me. And now that has opened up a channel for even more self-care rituals throughout my days. I am a different person after practicing meditation and facing my own demons and shadows.

so what are you one decision away from to create a completely different life? what are you being set up for and built towards?

Most of us want a written out plan for how we are going to tackle the decision, but the first part of this process isn’t a series of steps you can take – it’s having trust that it is all happening for a good reason and waiting for the right moment.

You then have to make sure that you are primed and ready for the call. You need to make sure you are awake and paying attention. You need to get still and ask yourself the juicy questions about why you aren’t happy, what you’d be doing if anything were possible, what habit is holding you back, or what relationships are toxic in your life. Ask yourself the existential questions and be open to the answers, even if they aren’t pretty.

The answers are already there – we just don’t always want to hear it.

It will then be time to declutter the gutter. You have to remove the negative beliefs you have around what’s possible for you. You have to remove the narratives telling you that it will never work out for you. Don’t believe what your brain is telling you – follow your bliss.

We then have to understand the concept of impermanence. Nothing lasts forever. We are never going to be stuck in this season, and you can always decide to do something different.

we don’t have to have it all figured out, but we do need to live consciously and with intention.

We don’t let life happen to us, we trust that we are being prepared for what’s coming next and we take aligned action to help ourselves out. We need to say yes to the scary thing. Hire the coach, say yes to the healing journey, begin the running practice, whatever it is. You are one decision away from a completely different life, and if you say yes to that thing, where you will be 6 months from now will look entirely different.

You are not stuck. You just have to believe and trust that you are being prepared for what is coming next, because what’s possible for you is limitless.

Take care of yourselves and therefore each other!
